Project LIFE

Project LIFE is more than your typical transition to adulthood. Through this program, interns will be supported to develop skills that will assist them in transitioning to adulthood. The curriculum focuses on three different aspects: Home, Community, and Work. Within each of these areas we focus on things such as self-determination, independence, social and communication skills, physical and emotional well-being, and more. The Wyandot County Project LIFE Program believes that all individuals, regardless of their disability, can learn and grow toward developing independence on their own unique path.
*Please Note: Individual must be eligible for county board services to be considered for Project LIFE.
Not Your Typical Classroom
A typical day at Project LIFE starts off with a community-based worksite under the supervision of a skills trainer. While at the worksite, interns are taught basic skills needed for employment while working alongside employees. The skills trainer completes weekly job reports on the tasks that are assigned each week helping to support the interns in working to the employer’s expectations. These reports help assist the intern in developing a potential career path for their future. Once the worksite is complete, interns will have learning activities with a curriculum. Interns also complete life skills coursework, such as budgeting and learning to cook. In addition, time is also divided into the community, such as volunteering at Open Door or learning about community resources, such as Wyandot Rides.
“The interns are always pleasant to be around and our employees enjoy the opportunity to work alongside them!”
